One order, kept the same
Turnover work happens inside a window the property sets. Inside that window the order of the work should not change.
Back to HomeWhy the name
A frieze is a band of one pattern repeated along a wall; a protocol is an agreed order of steps. The name describes the habit: the same panel, room after room. It is also a limit. A fixed order is a choice for steadiness over flexibility, and this page says where that choice stops being useful.
We start from the time between check-out and check-in rather than from a cleaning checklist. That time belongs to the property. The order of tasks, the number of people and the way the result is recorded all follow from taking it seriously.
Four working rules
Order before speed
A room finished in the same order each time is easier to check than a room finished quickly in a different order. Speed comes from not backtracking, not from skipping.
Write it down
A dated photograph of a finished room says more than the sentence "it was done properly". The record is kept short enough to read between other jobs.
Plan backwards from check-in
Guests do not move their arrival for us, so team size is worked backwards from the check-in time and the number of rooms. If the numbers do not fit, we say so before the booking.
Keep deep care separate
A mattress surface, an air-conditioner filter or a shower seal needs more time than a turnover has. It is scheduled as its own session instead of being squeezed into the window.
Where the work stops
The service is cleaning, restocking and counting. It is not the running of a lodging business. Licences and notifications under the Hotel Business Act or the Private Lodging Business Act, guest registration, complaints and safety duties stay with the property operator, and nothing on this site should be read as taking them over.
It is also not laundry, repair or pest control. Linen is washed by a commercial laundry; a worn fitting is reported in the condition note; a pest problem needs a licensed specialist.
What the record is for
The dated record has one purpose: letting the property manager see what was done without inspecting every room. Photographs show rooms and fittings, not people. If a guest’s belongings are in a room, they are left where they are and reported to the property, not moved or kept by us.
The record is not a certificate. It does not say that a room meets any statutory standard; that judgment belongs to the operator.
How the sequence changes
The sequence is revised rarely, and only when the same problem shows up across many rooms rather than in one odd case. A change is written on the standard sheet with a date, so a property that has used an earlier version can see what moved.
If this suits your property
We are glad to talk through how the five stages would apply to your rooms and your check-in time.
